Taftan Peak, Sistan

Taftan peak was as a natural monument in 1380. Near the peaks of Mount Taftan, there are 3 lakes with fresh water, which are as “Driaser” and are to be one of the must-see places in Khash. These shallow lakes are located in the northern part of Taftan Peak in Sistan and Baluchistan and their water is fresh, but there is also a deep lake with salty water in this area. On the way to the peaks of Taftan, there are rivers such as “Ladiza” and “Gezd” which in the rainy season, their water increases, but in other times they are dry and have no water.

Among other features of Taftan peak in Sistan and Baluchistan province is the presence of hot and fresh water springs near it. The most important and famous hot spring of Taftan peak is the “Jem Chen” or “Jem Chin” mineral water spring, which is located in the northwestern part of the Taftan mountain range. In this area, in addition to Jam Chen spring, there are other springs such as: “Amini spring”, “Barabak spring”, “Yousef Abad spring”, “Tershab spring”, “Marghab spring” and “Amin’s treasure spring”.

Weather condition of Taftan peak

Taftan peak is in a hot and dry climate and is covered with snow and ice during short periods of the year. The climate of this region is hot in spring days and very cold at night. Therefore, the best time to travel to Taftan peak is late winter and early spring in the months of April and May, when the weather is cooler during the day and does not make climbing difficult and tiring. The weather in this area is cold in autumn and winter with very strong and dry winds, making it difficult to travel and camp in this area.
